Employment in Birmingham and the West Midlands 2005

Employment data for Birmingham and the West Midlands Region is derived from data published by the Office of National Statistics.


It shows that:

  • There were 495,400 jobs based in Birmingham in 2005, 50% of which were filled by females.
  • 12% of jobs in the City were in the Manufacturing sector.
  • A further 31% were in the Public Sector.
  • The total number of jobs based in the West Midlands Region was 2,376,400 in the same year.
  • Manufacturing was a major employer in the Region, accounting for 15% of all jobs.
