Population of Birmingham by Ward and Constituency

This document is one of a series of information sheets produced by the BEIC to highlight Key Facts about Birmingham.


Population data for the 40 Birmingham wards and 10 (post June 2006) constituencies is derived from the 2001 Census of Population.


It shows that:

  • There were 977,087 people resident in Birmingham in 2001.
  • All Birmingham wards have a population the size of a small town.
  • Ladywood ward has the lowest population, 14,801, and Sparkbrook the largest population, 31,485.
