Economic Performance Indicators 1999


In 1998, the Birmingham Economic Development Partnership produced an economic strategy to secure a sustainable and strong economy for the citizens and businesses of Birmingham.


The Economic Performance Indicators document presents a set of 52 indicators which match the key objectives of the Economic Strategy. They illustrate the current position of Birmingham relative to the Region and the UK and are designed to allow future tracking of the performance of the City's economy.


The indicators are structured around:

  • Key Area One - Developing People and Communities
  • Key Area Two - Improving Business Competitiveness and Diversity
  • Key Area Three - Investing in Sustainable Development and Infrastructure
