Wages Survey 2001/02

Published: February 2002

This is the second annual Wages Survey to be published by the City Council, through the Birmingham Economic Information Centre (BEIC), and the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI).

The purpose of this Survey is to provide BCCI members, local companies and inward investors with timely information on basic salaries and hourly pay rates in Birmingham.

The Survey is divided up into 12 sections for different industrial sectors that are important to the local economy. These 12 results tables are broken down into specific occupations related to those sectors and generic occupations that are common to most industries (such as secretarial and administrative staff). The survey also asked for information on difficulties companies would have recruiting to the various occupations included in the survey.

There are further tables allowing for comparison between wage rates in generic occupations across all 12 sectors and a table comparing recruitment difficulties from last year's survey and this year's.
