Unemployment and WorklessnessAlthough unemployment rates have fallen significantly from the highs of the mid 1980s and early 1990s, unemployment remains an issue in some areas of the city. This section has links to our monthly Unemployment Briefing, which gives the latest unemployment data at ward and constituency level, along with a range of other fact sheets and reports on unemployment in the city. Worklessness is also a key issue for the city and this section also links to our Quarterly Worklessness Briefing. The Local Area Profiles section has links to a wide range of regeneration activities designed to improve the employment prospects for Birmingham residents. Birmingham's ward boundaries changed in June 2004. Where possible we have given data for the new wards, but for the foreseeable future some official datasets will continue to use the pre-June 2004 boundaries. |
